ArtPlay is a place where children from 0-12 years can come to explore their creativity and express their imagination in a fun and safe environment.
Workshops and presentations are run all throughout the year as well as free activities for children with drop-in events open to the public.
ArtPlay Federation Square Melbourne, Playground & Workshop Timetable
For workshops, bookings are required but the programs include activities such as: ‘Paint what you Hear’ which encourages children to explore sound and colour; ‘Art Club’ which include a variety of visual arts workshops, ‘Performance Club’ where kids learn to move and dance; ‘Life in Water’ where kids learn about life underwater with projections, movement and drawing; and ‘Horn & Beat’ where kids can make their own percussion or wind instrument using recycled materials.
After the kids have finished with their workshop, take them over to Birrarung Marr to play on the playground which is located there. You will find slides, sand pits, swinging hammocks, activity panels, rock and rope climbing features and balance beams.
There is ample space where kids and their families can play, making this space a must-visit while in Birrarung Marr. ArtPlay is located in the park right behind Federation Square next to Yarra River and is wheelchair accessible.
To get there to ArtPlay, take the train or tram to Flinders Street Station and walk across the road to Federation Square. If driving, parking is available at the Federation Square parking lot.
