Barkly Gardens is a beautiful park and garden in Richmond which dates back to the 19th century.
The gardens are a popular family destination, thanks to the quiet surroundings and myriad of play features available for the kids.

The playground section for the smaller kids boasts a chain-climbing wall, a spiral ladder as well as a mini slide and fireman’s pole. The older kids enjoy a spiral slide and ladder, the flying fox as well as monkey bars. The spiral slanted walkway makes for an epic adventure of balance and agility. Other facilities at the playground include swings and shaded seats.
Barkly Gardens are a great place to relax. Take a seat at any of the shaded spots and soak in the tranquillity that the park has to offer. Free BBQ facilities are provided (cannot be reserved in advance), making this ideal for family picnics and hanging out with friends. The small rotunda is not available for hire but is available on a first come, first served basis.
Other amenities available at the gardens include drinking fountains, clean washrooms and bins. The park is also dog-friendly with a dog off-leash area. The park is wheelchair friendly and has an accessible toilet.

Barkly Gardens is located between Coppin and Mary Streets south of Swan Street. To get here, take tram 70 and get off at Swan Street from where the park is a few minutes away. Otherwise, there is metered street parking around the parklands.
