Where is the best place to park? Somewhere not too far to walk as I have a bad knee.
Thanks.
Hi Lin,
The Flemington Racecourse is usually the common place to park, but depending on what time you arrive, you might find yourself at the far end of the field and pretty far away from the entrance – added to the fact the entrance on that side is up a hill. If you have a disabled parking permit, that should get you much closer.
So with that said, there is usually a number of houses that provide informal parking and the Ascot Vale West Primary School usually has parking available along Langs Rd. Again, spaces are usually limited, so arrive earlier for a better chance of getting a parking spot.
Alternatively, you could also use public transport as the tram, train and bus stops are right outside the entrance and won’t require much walking to get in. The details of these are as follows:
To take a train:
Depart Flinders Street Station (generally platforms 8/9), stop at Southern Cross Station (generally platform 14) and North Melbourne Station (generally platform 6)
The first train departs Flinders Street Station at 9:10am, with trains running to the Showgrounds every 10-20 minutes.
The last train departs Melbourne Showgrounds at 10:30pm.
For trams:
Catch Tram number 57 from the corner of Flinders & Elizabeth streets to Melbourne Showgrounds on Epsom Road (stop 32).
For a bus:
Catch the 404 service from Footscray to Moonee Ponds – to Ascot Vale Rd/ Epsom Rd, or:
Catch the 472 service from Williamstown to Moonee Ponds – to Langs Rd/ Epsom Rd
I hope this helps and have a great day at the show!
Thanks
Michael
Hi where will face painting be located at melb show this year
Hi Alicia,
Unfortunately the official website is light on information and doesn’t have a map up just yet, but my memory when I have been in previous years, there are usually multiple companies around the place – one being when you walk from the Grand Pavilion towards the Exhibition Hall along the Grand Boulevard.
It’s mentioned on the official website that the “interactive map will become available in August 2018”, so once that is up and running, it may help with locating where the service will be available.
Thanks
Michael

Hi There,
You will find the cakes in the Spotlight Makers Pavilion which is located opposite the showbag pavillion (near gate 1).
Best regards,
Jess
