Portarlington Miniature Railway is a unique tourist attraction in Melbourne and is a great place to take your kids on a fun day out.
The railway is run and managed by Portarlington Miniature Bayside Train volunteers and is located on eight hectares of open picturesque native parklands near the Geelong foreshore.

The trains run during summer (Sept-April) on Sundays between 11am-4pm as well as on Wednesdays during the school holidays. During winter (May-August), the train runs on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month between 11am-3pm and on Wednesdays during the school holidays. The train runs as frequently as needed to serve customers during these hours, however, please note however that the train will not in rainy weather or when it’s over 32 degrees.
In addition to the train rides, the facility also has a platform with a capacity of 70 people. Other amenities available at the railway include free electric BBQ facilities, picnic tables and a children’s playground.
Drop by the kiosk to get light refreshments and cold beverages. The beach is just a few metres away, and nothing is as scenic as the beach sunset to wrap up a fun day at Portarlington Miniature Railway.
The Portarlington Miniature Railway is located on the corner of Point Richards Road and Boat Road Portarlington, approximately 30 minutes from Geelong.
