Sandridge Beach is located in Port Melbourne, just 5kms from the Melbourne CBD, and is a quiet and flat beach suitable for talking long walks.
The beach itself isn’t a popular swimming spot as there is often a large quantity of seaweed in the water, however, the water is flat and calm, so can be good for a shallow paddle on a hot day.
Sandridge Beach Port Melbourne Victoria, Dog Off-Leash & Picnic Areas
The beach is often patrolled by surf lifesavers on the weekends during the warmer months, so you will spot the red and yellow flags on the beach when they are on duty. These flags indicate where the safest spot is to swim on the beach.
Dogs are permitted on Sandridge Beach between the rock groyne opposite Barak Road and the rock groyne opposite Cumberland Road. They must remain on a leash. Dogs are permitted off-leash at all times in certain areas.
Some of the amenities that make this beach worth visiting include large sheltered picnic tables, BBQ facilities and clean water. There is also a cafe and kiosk on site selling hot food and cold drinks. Fitness enthusiasts may also use the bike path that runs to the east. Free parking is also available.
So come on down to Sandridge Beach for a dip in the water and a stroll along the beach on a warm, sunny day!
