Getting There
Public Transport
Public transport is a hassle-free and highly recommended way to get to the Show, allowing you to relax and enjoy the day.
Travelling by Tram?
Melbourne’s Free Tram Zone operates within the CBD and stops directly from the Carlton Gardens. The closest tram stop within the Free Tram Stop zone is Stop 10 Nicholson St and Victoria Parade.
Tram Stop 11 (Melbourne Museum) is the closest stop, and entry to the Show is via the Museum Plaza. However, please note that this is outside of the free tram zone.
Travelling by Train?
The closest train station is Parliament Station, which is in the City Loop. Parliament Station’s Spring / Lonsdale Street provides lift access to street level. This exit is only 600m from the Victoria St Entrance to the Show (Carlton Gardens)
Prefer to Drive?
If driving, plan and take advantage of early arrival for the best parking spots, as space is limited.
A few options for paid car parking nearby:
- Melbourne Museum Car Park – entrance via either Rathdowne Street or Nicholson Street.
- Paramount Car Park – 163 Exhibition Street Melbourne.
- Victoria Parade Car Park – 90 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne.
- Lygon Street Car Park – 204-218 Lygon Street, Carlton.
The family ticket ( 2A & 2C ) : $65 how old can the children be ?

Is there a special discounted parking venue for the Garden show this year? Last year we parked at Etihad & caught a shuttle bus over to the show & returned back to our parking.
Hi Maree,
No mention of the shuttle bus this year. You can find heaps of information on getting to the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show by heading to their page here.
Kind regards,
Jess
Is it possible to hire wheel chairs at the venue and if so do they need to be booked?
Hi Margaret,
The show itself no longer hires out wheelchairs, however visitors may hire mobility and access equipment from Travellers Aid at both Flinders Street and Southern Cross Stations.
You need to pre-book the wheelchairs and you can do so by calling (03) 9654 2600.
Best regards,
Jess

When will the tickets for 2017 be available for purchase please? Also, when you buy a ticket on a particular day, is it valid for the whole day 9 to 5. Thank you.
Hello Elizabeth,
There is no information currently available as to when tickets will go on sale.
In previous years, your ticket has been valid for the full day. I anticipate that 2017 will be the same.
Check back with us as I will update our page once tickets go on sale.

Hi. We may be jumping the gun, booking 2017 Garden Exhibition early but we need to be staying with in walking distance from the venue. Can you suggest an area where we could look or a motel close by with good public transport. Cheers, Rosilyn
Hi Rossilyn, thanks for contacting us.
I have have included links to a few places which are within walking distance of the event:
1. Quality Hotel Downtowner on Lygon
2. Quest Carlton on Finlay
3. Carlton Clocktower Apartments
4. Quest Royal Gardens Serviced Apartments
Carlton is a great place to stay as it has the beautiful Lygon Street which has heaps of Italian restaurants and other international cuisine on offer. There are also retail stores and some nice parklands, whilst only being a short 10 minute tram ride into the CBD.
I also note that The Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton is only a short tram ride from the Melbourne CBD, so you could pick anywhere on the north side of Melbourne that suits your budget. I have attached a link to a list of Melbourne CBD hotels/motels/apartments here.
FYI: To get to the event on public transport from the Melbourne CBD, you could use the following options: Tram #86 or #96 goes to the corner of Nicholson and Gertrude Streets. There is also a free City Circle Tram to Victoria Parade which is then just a short walk to the event. You can also hop on one of the Visitor Shuttles and get of at Stop #5.
I hope you can find something suitable and enjoy your trip to Melbourne!
Best regards,
Jess
