Melbourne International Jazz Festival 2025 Dates & Program Schedule
The Melbourne International Jazz Festival was first held in 1998, with many volunteers joining the management team to help manage and organise the event.
Previous festivals celebrated the icons of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong with performances by Bill Frisell, Patti Austin, James Morrison, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on opening night at Hamer Hall.
Three-time Grammy Award-winning artist Dianne Reeves also performed at the festival at Hamer Hall. Many performances and free events are scheduled.
If you are interested, there are many ways to get involved in the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
Volunteering: The festival would not have been possible without the dedicated volunteers who gave their time and skills during and before the event.
Employment: MIJF has a small year-round team. In the lead-up to the festival, a limited number of contract positions are advertised each year. Opportunities are advertised on the Employment section of the official website, through e-news, and on social media.
Performing: MIJF is a fully curated event; as such, the Festival’s Artistic Director extends invitations to perform, and there is no open registration process. If you are interested in participating as a performer, they take expressions of interest for specific projects.
There are so many events and performances during the festival we can’t mention them all here. Please refer to the official program for full dates, times, venues, and ticket prices.
