Coburg is a culturally diverse residential suburb located just 8 kilometres north of the Melbourne CBD.
Sydney Road cuts right through the middle of Coburg and is one of the main hot spots with many businesses, cafes and restaurants located here.

Away from the prison, Coburg is also known for its charming natural attractions. Merri Creek, for instance, is one of the most significant locations in the suburb. The creek has a trail that runs along with it, and which is popular with cyclists, runners and dog walkers. There are several picnic sites close to the creek too, all of which offer great views of the verdant surroundings and the waterway.
Enjoy shopping along Sydney Road as there are many small businesses here that sell fresh groceries and meat, household items, second-hand clothing as well as electrical stores, pharmacies dentists and doctors offices. You will find supermarkets on the corner of Sydney Road and Bell Street as well as a large carpark right near the Coburg Train station.
Coburg is also home to the Winter Nights Market which runs every Saturday night throughout June and July. Each Winter Nights Market hosts around 30 stall holders and street vendors, ticking off every foodie’s wish list.
Coburg is serviced by the Upfield train line with three main stops; Moreland and Coburg Train station within the suburb and Batman Train Station just outside the border of the suburb. There are also frequent tram services which run up Sydney Road via the 1, 8 and 19 routes.
