Essendon

Essendon is one of Melbourne’s fastest growing residential suburbs with many beautiful homes and is located just 10 kilometres north from the CBD.

Its local government area is managed by the City of Moonee Valley, and the suburb’s boundaries constitute Buckley Street, Hoffman’s Road and Keilor Road.

Essendon is truly a residents paradise with plenty of beautiful homes, schools, supermarkets, shopping malls, retail stores and medical services. There are also many natural parklands located here, and a massive sporting community who supports the Essendon (“Bombers”) AFL Football Team.

Along Mount Alexander Road, you will find a number of restaurants, bakeries, butchers, post office, clothing stores and take away food venues here.

Head over to DFO Essendon which is one of Melbourne’s premium shopping destinations. With plenty of well-known brands including Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren and Oroton, you can get discounted bargains here, with regular sales of up to 70% off.

Essendon Fields is another excellent shopping destination with Lamanna, a huge fresh food grocer who sources most of their fruits and vegetables from Australian farmers. There is also a supermarket here as well as delicatessens, bakeries and a post office. Essendon is well known for the Essendon Airport located here, which is a small airport that is home to some notable airlines; including the Victoria Police Air Wing, Executive Airlines and a few other companies that use the Northern Hangars. The Essendon Airport is also a corporate jet airport base. Please note that Essendon Airport is different from the larger Tullamarine International Airport.

Owing to the numerous activities and attractions in the suburb, Essendon has an extensive transport network that spans tram, train and bus services. Train services from the CBD use the Craigieburn line and passengers can alight at Essendon Station or Glenbervie Station. Use tram 59 to get to the CBD or cycle along the Maribyrnong River Trail that flanks the river.
